Orchid focus
Your Orchids deserve the five star treatment! Orchids should not be fed with general purpose plant ‘foods’ for many reasons. Most importantly the nitrogen supply in the mass market product will usually contain significant levels of ammonia and urea.

Why choose us?
When it comes to buying plants and supplies for your garden there are plenty of places you can go, but if you want to have a successful and thriving garden, or house plants that are going to survive then there is only one place you should be going. Your local plant shop. Here’s why we think that:
We know what we are talking about>
When you go to a local independent plant store, you are choosing to shop in a place that has specialised in the products that you are looking for. That means they will have everything you need under one roof and, more importantly, they can talk to you about everything they sell.
If you buy a plant from a national chainstore, the chances are that there is no one in the building who can give you advice about ‘where is the best place to put your plant’. In your local plant store, the staff will be more than happy to answer your questions and they may even be able to give you advice and tips that will help you to keep your plants thriving. The advice will be tailored to you and the plants you have, not just general tips.
Whether you’re a beginner or an expert, pop in store and have a chat.
We know what grows best where you live
Because your local plant store is based near you they will know what the weather conditions you are working with are and can advise you accordingly. You might have your heart set on a Japanese acer, but your local plant store will be able to tell you if you stand a cat in hells chance of growing one, and if you don’t they will be able to suggest alternatives that look just as lovely but will be able to thrive.
As well as the weather they will also have some insight into the quality of the soil you will be growing in, because they have the first-hand experience of it themselves. That local knowledge and experience is invaluable so why would you go anywhere else?

Specialist stores, sell higher quality products>
The plants you can get from your local store will have be raised and bred to be as hardy and bountiful as possible. This means that when you plant them in your garden you can do so, safe in the knowledge that they are ready to thrive. If you purchase your plants from a big box store they will look great in the store, because they have just come out of a greenhouse. That makes for good looking stock, but it does not make for hardy plants that are able to survive in your local environment.
As well as selling higher quality plants, your local plant store will also carry a wider range. Their plants are often grown locally, by local growers, meaning that the plant you buy is perfectly adapted to where you live.
By using your local plant shop it means that as well as getting something that is a little different and hardy you will also be supporting your local community.
“I didn't know what to expect from your shop at first, but I've come back every year because my greenhouse has never produced such wonderful tomatoes and strawberries”
Miss Davies, 68, Aberdare
We're open all year round
One of the great things about gardening is the journey. Each month comes with its own challenges and we want you to know that we’re here every step of the way.
Adding compost and mulch to your soil now will help to keep your plants going over the winter and it will also help to insulate the ground so that their roots don’t suffer as much with the cold. At the end of autumn, you will want to clean and store your tools so that you don’t have to do as much maintenance in spring.
